The final round of the 2024 FWJGA Boys Championship had one of the most exciting finishes in recent history! Matthew Lewis led by 3 strokes after the third round at Hidden Creek Golf Course, but his fellow competitors were ready for a battle in the final round.
Hosted at the magnificent Shady Oaks Country Club, the final round began with the field flighted based on scores through 54 holes. All competitors would play for the 1st and 2nd place trophies within their flights. It was a beautiful start to the day with cooler than usual temperatures for a late July day.
As the round went on, it was clear there were a two players making a charge to the top of the Championship division alongside Lewis: Braden Stokes and Jack Workman. At the completion of play, these three players were tied for 1st place, resulting in a 3-way, sudden death playoff for the historic trophy!
With all three players coming down the first playoff hole, the gallery was on the "edge of their seats", but Braden sealed the deal on the first playoff hole carding a birdie to win the Championship!
A huge congratulations to all of our competitors in conclusion of the 2024 FWJGA Boys Championship! Shoutout and thanks to all of the participating courses for their support of this historic event!

Over 80 Division II competitors concluded their event at Squaw Creek Golf Course, battling it out for 1st and 2nd place in each of the five flights. Many players saw an improvement in score on Day 2 which led to some exciting lead changes as scores came in at the end of the day.
11-13 and 10 & Under players competed on the Texas 9 course in east Fort Worth. Some stellar play by our youngest competitors resulted in several ties for 1st place amongst seven flights that were settled by scorecard playoffs.
Our Division I boys finished the first half of the competition at Ridglea Country Club's South Course. Isaac Diaz leads the competition for the championship trophy at 3 under par, but Matthew Lewis is not far behind at 1 under par for the tournament.
Division I made the first cut to the field after Round 2, leaving the top 60 competitors through Round 3.
Congratulations to all those who have finished the 2024 competition! We await the winners and the grand champion on Thursday, July 25!

The weather was a far cry from Round 3 and lent itself to a great day for golf! The girls were flighted into four flights based on their three-day totals. The beautiful Rivercrest Country Club became the perfect backdrop for girls to play for titles within their respective flights.
Annaliese Joiner, Reagan Gilliland, and Kennedi Parker claimed first place in the First, Second, and Third flights respectively.
Naomi Phan started the day with a four-stroke lead, But was challenged when Kaetie Samuels made a run for the trophy carding four birdies on the day's scorecard for a 71 - the low round of the day and the tournament. However, the valiant effort by Samuels could not overcome the consistency of Phan's rounds for the tournament.
While past champions looked on, including Holly Haas, Samantha Gibbs and Trinity King, Phan claimed the title with rounds of 75-74-37-74 for a total of 260 for 3.5 rounds. Samuels was the runner-up with scores of 76-81-39-71 for a total of 267.
Congratulations to Ms. Naomi Phan - our 2024 FWJGA Girls Champion!

The battle for the championship continued for Division I competitors at Hidden Creek Golf Course. Challenging course conditions were exacerbated by rain delays which resulted in some of the field being unable to finish their rounds.
When it was evident that not all competitors would be able to finish, the tournament committee chose to take only the first 9-hole scores for each player making competition just a little tighter.
The top players remain at the top, but with one more round to play, the championship is still within reach!

The FWJGA Girls Championship got a hot start on Monday and not just because of the temperatures!
Division I girls began their tournament at Diamond Oaks Country Club where Naomi Phan took a one shot lead over the field and also became the girls tournament's Wendell Conditt Medalist winner, awarded to the Division I player with the lowest round on the first day of the tournament. With close competition, great shots were sure to be on display, including a hole-in-one on #12 from Victoria Farkas!
Our Division II competitors battled it out at Oeste Ranch in day one of two. Cook, Nichols and Bryant proved front runners of the field, claiming the top of the leaderboard.
The 11-13 Division competed at Pecan Valley Hills for nine holes in a small but mighty field and future championship competitors in the 10 & Under Division played the Benbrook Par 3 course. The Pearson sisters took charge in both divisions leading the pack after day one.
We look forward to seeing the final standings of our Division II, 11-13 and 10 & Under competitors after their final round on Tuesday, July 16, while the Division I competitors continue to play through Thursday!
